I certainly think so. I think it's a crime when people find barriers to their dreams because of something as petty as a lack of money or support.

I like seeing people dream. The fact that I can sometimes help make them a reality is so much the better.

I certainly am. And in the times when I'm a realist, it's usually so that someone else can have the opportunity to be an idealist instead.

Though I've met a fair few realists who've criticized me for it, too. You'd be surprised how often I've heard the phrase "lofty moral superiority".

those don't sound like realists, they sound like cynics
i don't get it, but then again, i don't see the harm in wanting to help people
pay it forward, that kind of thing.

Maybe a cynic is to a realist what a square is to a rectangle. All cynics are realists, but not all realists are cynics.

Has someone ever done that for you? Helped put you in a position where you can pay it forward, too?

What did he do for you?

raise me on his own, which was probably no easy feat
inspired me to pursue my line of interests in school
kicked me out of the house because he needed me to expand my horizons

that kind of thing
like i said, cliche. sorry.

It's none of my business, I know, but...that doesn't sound much like support to me.

well... that makes it sound worse than it is
not so much kicked out, but he's always tried to make me less complacent, i guess is what i should've said
